Limited space in container to store sync files

Other relevant data:
We are running container with external DB and S3. The host for containers has limit amount of space 4G in WORKING_DIRECTORY. Is it possible to point the directory to S3 so the tmp sync files won’t fill up the filesystem? Does only the worker container need to have a large WORKING_DIRECTORY?
