With the next batch of CI-updates (to be applied this weekend), there will be a new logic for the ready-to-ship check on Pull requests.
What has been in the “ready-to-ship” check now moved to “check-commits”. Instead “ready-to-ship” depends on the latter, as well as on linting and all the test scenarios. So it is safe now, to only mark this check required for merging. And also it allows to configure different test scenarios (all of which are required) on different release branches.
