In some recent discussions, we came to the conclusion, that our Downloader infrastructure needs a revamp. The current implementation is lacking certain features that see to be very hard to impement (e.g. mirrorlists). Also It looks beneficial to better separate the concern of retrieving data from the concern of consuming and or persisting it.
We plan to form a Special Interest Group or a Downloader Task Force here and to post our results in this thread. Let us know if you are interested in participating.
